How to Automatically Install Plugins on Your Minecraft Server

Plugins are modifications that changes various aspects of Minecraft, from adding better permissions systems to blocks and storages, adding various new items and pets to your server, and many more!

With RAMShard's Plugin List feature, you can install plugins automatically and easily with just a few clicks which we will show in this guide.

Before installing plugins, you need to make sure that you are running a Minecraft server type that supports plugins such as Craftbukkit, Spigot, and Paper for Java Edition and PocketMine for Bedrock Edition.

How to Automatically Install Minecraft Plugins with RAMShard

Access your server control panel: RAMShard Server Control Panel

Navigate to Files > Plugin List.

Change the Source from the dropdown menu based on the server type you are using. Below are examples of the source options to use according to the server type:
Bukkit - Craftbukkit and Spigot server types (Java)
Spigot - Spigot and PaperMC server types (Java)
Pocketmine & Poggit - Pocketmine server type (Bedrock)
Nukkit - Nukkit server type (Bedrock)

Search for the plugin you want to install by typing it under the Name textbox and pressing enter on your keyboard.
If you cannot find the plugin you are looking for, this may not be available on the Plugin List feature. You need to manually install the plugin: How to Install Plugins on a Minecraft Server

Click on plugin name to view more details. Make sure to also read the description preview to select the correct plugin. For this tutorial, we'll install LuckPerms as an example.

Under the Version dropdown menu, select the version that is compatible with your server version.

To know which version is suitable for your server, view the Server Version and Compatible Plugin Versions table to identify which plugin version is suitable for your Minecraft server version. For this tutorial, we are running on a Paper 1.20.6 server so we will indicates to be compatible with the 5.4.131 version of the plugin.
We recommend checking the developer name, description, and also clicking on the Plugin Page link to confirm that your are installing the correct plugin that you want to use.

Once you have selected the correct version, click Install. This will automatically install the plugin for you.

Navigate back to your server control panel homepage and click Restart to let your newly installed plugin load in.

That's it! You now have the plugin installed on your Minecraft server. You need to restart your server every time you install a new plugin.

How to Automatically Uninstall Minecraft Plugins with RAMShard

If you no longer want to use a plugin that you have installed using RAMShard's Plugin List feature, uninstalling the plugin is also just as easy as installing it!

Navigate to Files > Plugin List.

From the left sidebar, click Currently Installed.

Select the plugin you want to uninstall from the list.

Manually installed plugins will not appear on this list. These will need to be manually uninstalled.

On the plugin information page, click Remove.

Restart your server for the changes to apply.
