Rust: How to Mute/Unmute Players

Mute and Unmute are 2 examples of commands that do not work in the in-game console.

To proceed with muting and unmuting players, you must use an RCON client. If you do not know how to set up RCON, you can find our tutorial here.

How to Mute a Player

To mute a player, you can follow these steps:

Connect to your server via RCON.

From within the RCON console, type mute "player_name_or_steam_id"

Ensure you replace player_name_or_steam_id with the name or Steam ID of the player you wish to mute. This will mute both their voice and text chat.

To unmute a player, follow the same steps but with the unmute command.
