How to Create a Manual Server Backup
Creating a backup of your server is very useful to prevent losing progress should any issues arise on your server. This is also handy to use when changing or updating the version of your server.
This tutorial will guide you on how to create a manual external backup of your server onto your computer with the use of an FTP client like FileZilla.
Learn how to use FileZilla here: Getting Started with FileZilla
Access your server control panel: RAMShard Server Control Panel.
Stop your server.
From the side menu of your control panel, navigate to Files > FTP File Access.
Open FileZilla or any FTP client of your choice.
Using FileZilla, access your server directory by entering these details:
FTP Address ➜ Host
FTP Port ➜ Port
FTP Username ➜ Username
Password ➜ Your control panel password
You must include the numbers after the username as well or it will not work.
Select the server files you wish to create a backup of then drag these into a folder in your computer. You may also select all files in your server directory to create a full backup.
Wait for the files transfer to complete. If you are transferring large server files, this may take some time.
Once files download has completed, you have successfully created a backup of your server! You can now start your server and resume playing!
If you want to make a backup directly from the control panel, we have a separate guide for this: How to Create a Server Backup
